Connecting Power BI to aACE Data Service (ADS)

This guide explains connecting Power BI to ADS. It is intended for system administrators.

You can connect Power BI to aACE Data Services (ADS). Your aACE Representative will send you the following connection details before you connect: server, port, database name, username, and password.

Download the MySQL Connector

Before connecting Power BI to ADS, you must download and install the MySQL Connector.

  1. Open the Power BI desktop version and select Home > Get Data > More....
  2. Search for MySQL > select MySQL database > select Connect.
  3. Select Learn More.
  4. Download the MySQL connector.
    Ensure you select the correct version for your operating system.
  5. Run the MySQL installer, then close and re-open Power BI.

Connect ADS to Power BI

After you have the MySQL Connector installed, you can connect Power BI to ADS.

  1. In the Power BI desktop version, select Home > Get Data > More....
  2. Search for MySQL > select MySQL database > select Connect.
  3. In the Server field, enter the server address your aACE Representative provided.
  4. After the server address, enter a colon (:) and the port provided by your aACE Representative.
  5. In the Database field, enter the database.
  6. Select OK.
  7. Select Database > enter the username and password > Connect.
  8. Select the tables you need, then select Load.
