This guide explains upgrading your FileMaker Pro or FileMaker Server version. It is intended for both general users and system administrators.
Claris routinely releases new versions of FileMaker Pro and FileMaker Server with new features. While it can be exciting to upgrade to the latest version, we caution customers to wait to upgrade servers and clients for about 6 months after a version release. This allows Claris sufficient time to find and correct major bugs or other areas of concern with the new software.
You are can still upgrade to the latest version if you'd like to proceed, but note there might be bugs. If you choose to proceed, you can contact support@aacesoft.com if you require any assistance to get everything running smoothly.
If you are not upgrading to the latest version but would still like an updated FileMaker Pro or FileMaker Server version, note the following identified compatibility issues with aACE:
- FileMaker Pro and FileMaker Server 19.6 or later — Required for aACE 6 to function properly
- FileMaker Pro 22 — Do not use. This version has a known crashing issue when searching modules.
Installing Your Upgraded FileMaker Pro Version
This section is intended for general users.
To install the upgraded FileMaker Pro version:
- Obtain the needed files from your system administrator:
- FileMaker Pro installer for the upgraded version of FileMaker
- Your company FileMaker license certificate
If you still have the certificate on hand from the initial FileMaker Pro install, you might not need a new copy.
- Uninstall your current version of FileMaker Pro using the process for your workstation operating system:
- Install the upgraded version of FileMaker.
For a help guide on the subject, refer to Installing the FileMaker Client. Decline any prompts to upgrade FileMaker Pro to the latest version unless your system administrator has instructed otherwise. - Log in to aACE.
